School day

How the school day runs

The order stays the same from day to day, so children know what comes next.

  1. 8:00

    Step 1: Arrival and play

A teacher greets each child at the door. Children choose blocks, books, the kitchen corner or the art table.

  2. 9:00

    Step 2: Circle time

A Bible story, a song and the day's plan on the rug. Children raise a hand to answer, and a teacher takes every answer.

  3. 9:30

    Step 3: Learning centers

Letters, counting and drawing at low tables, with a teacher at each one.

  4. 10:15

Step 4: Snack and the playground

A simple snack at the table with a blessing, then outside for running, climbing and the sand table.

  5. 11:45

    Step 5: Lunch and rest

School-day children eat lunch from home, then rest on a mat with a book or quiet music.

  6. 2:15

    Step 6: Stories and goodbye

Afternoon play, one more story and a goodbye at the door.

Before the first day

What to bring and wear

  • A change of clothes

Spare clothes in the backpack, with your child's initials inside.

  • Shoes for the playground

Closed shoes that are easy to run in.

  • A water bottle

Children fill it at the low sink and keep it in their cubby.

  • A rest mat cover

School-day children bring a small blanket for rest time.
